Michel Lemonnier is Vice President of the FrenchSIF (FIR); the French forum for socially responsible investment is a multipartite association including asset managers, asset owners, brokers, rating firms, trade unions, suppliers, advisory, NGO’s, qualified persons, etc. The FrenchSIF develops partnerships with local professional associations, public authorities and regulators to promote responsible investments in the finance industry.
Michel is Head of SRI Development at Groupama Asset Management, the 7th largest asset management company in France; he is currently reporting to the Deputy General Manager and to Board of Directors; Groupama Asset Management was involved in SRI field since 2000, is one of the founding members and the first signatory to the Principles for Responsible Investment –PRI in 2006. Groupama Asset Management is the asset management subsidiary of Groupama, the 1st French mutual insurance company, a major player in the insurance and banking in France and Europe with 16 million members and customers and 39.000 employees in 14 countries; the three main principles of the Group are: human and geographical proximity, individual responsibility and collective solidarity.
Before moving to Groupama Asset Management, Michel was managing and sales director of Storebrand Investments France, the French asset management subsidiary of Storebrand, the Norwegian insurance company; Storebrand was a pioneer in the SRI field and sustainable development. Since 2000, Michel was strongly involved in different think tanks and worked with professional organisations (ORSE, AFG, AFA, Paris Europlace…) to promote SRI in the overall investment industry as well as in the corporate business. Previously, he worked at Citibank Global Asset Management for 15 years as Portfolio Manager, Chief Investment Officer and then, Managing Director of the French Asset Management subsidiary.
He graduated from higher education accounting (DECS) and holds a Master’s degree in Finance, Economic and Accountant sciences from Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers (INTEC).
