IIGCC Lobbying Initiative – aligning investor and corporate positions on climate change

02.06.2017

In 2015, ahead of the Paris Agreement, IIGCC launched an engagement initiative focused on aligning investor and corporate positions on climate policy. As part of the initiative 75 carbon intensive companies were asked about their position on the Paris agreement and key EU policies.

While many companies expressed support for the Paris Agreement, of the 49 companies that responded, less than 15% were found to support key EU climate policies.

The purpose of this roundtable is to review how companies have been lobbying on climate policy, and what investors can do to ensure support for climate policies are implemented effectively.

The findings of the first phase of IIGCC’s Lobbying Initiative will be presented together with an update from InfluenceMap on recent lobbying activities across key sectors. This will be followed by a panel discussion on the strategic implications for future engagement with companies on the issue of public policy lobbying.
