PhiTrust favors an SRI investment approach based on the following principles:

• Selection: depending on our investors’ tendencies, we will include or exclude companies from an investment portfolio based on whether or not they meet social, environmental or ethical criteria.
• 'Shareholder activism': we systematically make use of our rights as shareholders and voting rights to engage in constructive discussions with company management to bring about change in corporate behavior.
• ‘Bottom of the pyramid’ strategies: we favor investing in listed companies which develop locally-oriented business strategies for the poor. Such strategies might include projects for renewable energies, agriculture, biodiversity, local development and employment creation, to name just a few, and meet a real need rather than create one.
• Social investment: Through our foundation, we fund social/philanthropic projects, led by non-profits or social businesses, favoring high-quality projects of which the social and environmental impact is measurable.
