Italian Forum for Sustainable Finance

Italian Forum for Sustainable Finance

The Forum per la Finanza Sostenibile is a non profit association whose mission is to promote social responsibility in the Italian asset management industry.

FFS achieves its goals though different means: it provides operators with practical tools to enable them to handle the concrete dimension of sustainability in the financial sector (capacity building). It acts as a virtual place where financial institutions can meet stakeholders and compare information and different points of view to gain a multiple perspective. It also promotes innovation in the regulatory framework by lobbying legislator as well as authorities and trade associations.

FFS’s activities are framed in multi-yearly programmes :

  • Futuro di Valore : a long term programme with the goal of increasing the knowledge, the awareness and the ability to manage socially responsible investments by institutional investors (visit www.futurodivalore.it).
  • Financial Education: a 3-year information programme for individual savers and investors on the basics of finance.
  • Microfinance: a feasibility study for the first Microfinance Italian investment fund.
  • Finance, globalisation and sustainability: innovative tools for Italian finance institutions.

FFS addresses both the demand and the supply side using several tools, from research, studies and surveys to conferences, seminars, training courses and other events from campaigning to lobbying.

FFS also lobbies policy makers to promote the adoption of regulatory measures that support SRI. FFS is the promoter of the Intergruppo Parlamentare per la Finanza Sostenibile, the all-parties parliamentary group on SRI.

For FFS, SRI is a means to orientate the economic model and to make it more coherent with the principles of sustainable development.
