Eurosif Update

March/April 2007

Eurosif held a successful meeting in Paris to promote the use of the OECD guidelines in the SRI community

Partnering with OECD Watch, Eurosif held a first dialogue session in Paris on March 30th. Member Affiliates of Eurosif representing SRI analysts from rating agencies, asset managers and pension funds had the opportunity to exchange with members of OECD Watch on the 4 fact sheets that will be developed in the coming months to promote the use of the OECD Guidelines in the SRI Community.

The group also discussed how to improve information exchange between NGOs (OECD Watch maintains a database of complaints filed by NGOs worldwide since 2000) and the SRI Community. For instance, OECD Watch publishes a “Quarterly case update” which should be of interest to the SRI Community.

European Legal Briefing (for Eurosif Member Affiliates only)

Our member affiliates recently received the Eurosif “European Legal Briefing: a current view of SRI & CSR issues” providing an idea of the legislative landscape today relative to social and environmental regulation across Europe. This document includes: an update of SRI-related legislative and regulatory changes that have taken place since 2004/2005, as well as a review of legislation that may impact corporate actors as well. This is due to the fact that many of the legislative changes introduced in the countries we surveyed correspond to the implementation of the 2003 EU Accounts Modernisation Directive, which requires large quoted and unquoted companies to report on relevant social, environmental and ethical (SEE) issues using key performance indicators.
