VBDO (Vereniging van Beleggers voor Duurzame Ontwikkeling) – Netherlands

VBDO applauds recommendations for Dutch companies

The Dutch Financial Times reported on 29 May 2008 that Dutch companies will have to indicate in their annual reports to what extent they try to prevent child labour, exploitation and detrimental work conditions at operations of their international suppliers. This is stated in a preliminary recommendation the Dutch Social and Economic Council has published on the issue. The Council for Annual Reporting will set up guidelines for reporting on social issues related to responsible supply chain management. VBDO is pleased with this recommendation. It is in line with the indicators of the responsible supply chain benchmark the VBDO will execute this year for the third time.
