EU Update

Eurosif was invited to several meetings with leading policy makers which include:

September 26th, Australia

On September 26th, Eurosif met privately in Melbourne with the Australian Finance Minister, Nick Sherry, to discuss policy ideas around ESG criteria and how to foster a more robust, long-term approach to investment. Australia is seeking to create more disclosure around these areas in the near future.

September 12th, Belgium

On September 12th, Eurosif participated in the CSR Forum Coordination Committee as the Investor representative to plan a high-level EC Meeting that will take place in February. Transparency on ESG related matters will be one of the items for discussion across a number of EC DG’s.

Eurosif will be a keynote speaker at the 5th annual European Forum on Eco-Innovation

At this important event supported by the EC, Eurosif will present the investor view on ‘Business approaches and perspectives for emerging technologies’. The goal of the seminar is to understand leading sustainable technology trends and consider policy making incentives.

Eurosif to participate in a Friends of Europe European Policy Summit: Defining Europe’s Energy Strategy - the Long-Term View

Thursday 30 October 2008 – Cercle Royal Gaulois, Brussels

A high-level European Policy Summit entitled “Defining Europe’s Energy Strategy: The Long-Term View", is organised by Friends of Europe with media partner Europe’s World. This event comes at a key moment, just weeks before the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) conference in Poznań, Poland, at the start of December, while the European Commission’s energy and climate change package is under intense discussion.

EU climate plans supported by MEPs

The Parliament's environment committee recently voted largely in favour of three separate reports on emissions trading, greenhouse gas reduction 'effort' sharing and CO2 capture and storage in a show of support for the EU's ambitious climate change policy.
