Eurosif’s response to EC consultation on the Harmonisation of Securities Law
In April 2009, the European Commission requested information from stakeholders, in particular investors, on the necessity to improve the EU-wide legal framework for securities holding and transaction and on how future EU legislation in this field could address the issue. In June 2009, Eurosif responded to the consultation. In this letter, Eurosif argues that making the service providers more accountable will favour good practices. Defining who the securities intermediaries are and imposing a set of common obligations upon them can be the mean to ensure that the ultimate investors can vote.
