IIGCC publishes 2 papers touching on a low carbon economy
Following the publication of last year's “Investor Statement on a Global Agreement on Climate Change”, which was signed by over 150 investors with over $9trillion in assets, many policymakers asked for greater detail on the specific financing mechanisms that would enable greater financial flows towards a low carbon economy. The IIGCC has just published 2 papers which consider (1) how carbon markets can be made more effective so that they establish a strong long-term price signal that provides companies and investors with the confidence to invest in low carbon solutions (2) the characteristics of other mechanisms whereby public sector support is used to leverage private sector finance for mitigation and adaptation in developing countries. Both documents can be found at www.iigcc.org
Call for proposals for a new Greenleaf Publishing book series Responsible Investment
In 2006, Greenleaf published the ground-breaking collection Responsible Investment, edited by Rory Sullivan and Craig Mackenzie. In response to the very positive feedback received on this volume, and given the central importance of investors in ensuring high standards of corporate governance and corporate responsibility as well as the wider importance of the capital markets to sustainable development, the Greenleaf Responsible Investment Series has been launched. The series aims to provide a forum for outstanding empirical and theoretical work in all aspects of responsible investment. The scope of the series is deliberately broad, reflecting the breadth of issues, strategies and actors involved. Proposals/publications are welcome on all aspects of responsible investment. Read more
