Job description
Based in London, working within a Unit of six people, and as part of a wider department of Research and Analytics Services, the RI Associate primarily takes responsibility for supporting and delivering projects in the RI Unit including around; quality assessments on RI research from partners, supporting the product development pipeline, dealing with company communication and engagement, and providing marketing and sales support both in the UK and regional offices.
The position is also tasked with supporting the relationships with the Advisory Committees, suppliers, partners and key influencer groups with interests in this area.
Key areas of responsibility are:
- Quality control on partner data: Working closely with the Research & Analytics data team, and with partner organisations ensure that supplier data is reliable and robust.
- Index and Data Reviews: Support the delivery of all RI index reviews including: FTSE4Good Index Series x2/year; FTSE4Good ESG Ratings Reviews x4/year; FTSE Environmental Markets Index Series x2/year; other RI product reviews as required.
- FTSE4Good Company Engagement and Communications: Implementing a programme of direct company engagement for the FTSE4Good Index with American companies, including tracking and reporting on results. Additional responsibility for the RI Unit’s annual communication with all FTSE4Good companies, including contact database creation maintenance.
- Product Development: assist in developing new RI index and data products, including responsibility for coordinating internal product build process.
- Committees: Supporting the RI Committees, preparation and delivery of presentations, papers and supporting documents.
- Business Development, Sales, and Marketing: Providing technical support to Marketing globally and regional Sales teams: including research and data analysis, website support, preparation of presentations and other product collateral. Support the monitoring of the RI Unit’s finances and the development/maintenance of RI contacts database.
The performance and contribution of this position will also be influenced and measured by the effectiveness of the relationships built with the following functions across FTSE Group:
- FTSE Analytics data team
- Index design/build teams
- Teams in Operations Departments
- Custom Index Team
- Global Marketing Team,
- Client service/ sales teams
- FTSE Americas and FTSE Asia-Pacific
- Finance, Admin, Legal and Human Resources
Skills / requirements
It is expected that with limited supervision the candidate will be able to deliver each of the key objectives of the role identified above. It is therefore expected he/she will have proven abilities, experience and knowledge in the areas below:
- Excellent academic record: Degree (first class or 2.1) and preferably a masters qualification in a relevant discipline (such as investment/finance, sustainability, or international business)
- Experience working in a related capacity (financial services experience desirable)
- Experience of working with senior representatives from companies, committees, NGOs and other groups
- Understanding and awareness of corporate sustainability / environmental, social and governance
- Experience of working to tight deadlines and managing workloads effectively
- Superb spreadsheet skills and aptitude
- Language skills desirable
- A knowledge of American/Asian markets and culture an advantage

- Professional business manner, and also the ability to communicate with companies in other regions (particularly in the US and Asia)

FTSE is seeking a new member of the RI team with excellent data management, analytical and communication skills. Based at FTSE's headquarters in Canary Wharf, London, working within a unit of six people, and within the Research and Analytics Services Department, the RI Associate will take responsibility for delivering projects including; overseeing index reviews, quality assessments on ESG (environmental, social and governance) research from partners, supporting product development/ marketing, and engaging companies on ESG matters.
