Insight Investment (the asset management arm of HBOS plc) is searching for a senior individual to join our market-leading Corporate Governance team, to lead the expansion of our corporate governance activities in Europe and to support our efforts in the UK.

The role will involve; meetings with chairmen, non-executive and executive directors of companies that we hold shares in (or are interested in) investing in on behalf of our clients, communicating the findings of these meetings to our equity/credit analysts/fund managers, representing Insight at conferences and on working groups relating to corporate governance and related issues.

• Leading Insight’s discussions with Boards and senior executives of European companies with regard to a broad range of corporate governance issues. This may include corporate strategy, board composition, executive remuneration and accountability.
• Working closely with Insight’s investment managers and research analysts to ensure that corporate governance issues are fully integrated into investment analysis and decision-making.
• Representing Insight in external groups and discussions focused on policy and market-related corporate governance issues.
• Involvement with the European voting report process.
• It is essential that the individual has a very good understanding of the investment management industry, with a background in investment management. A background in the areas such as, Corporate Strategy, Corporate Broking and Financial Journalism may also be appropriate for this role.
• A background specifically in Corporate Governance is not essential but would be advantageous. However it is essential that the individual has a good understanding of the role of corporate governance in creating successful companies and in creating shareholder value.
• It is essential that the individual has a good level of knowledge in the European business market.
• A strong communicator, with strong written and oral presentation skills
• A strong team player.
• Confident in dealing with different levels, especially with chairman and CEO’s of invested companies as well as fund managers and analysts within the organisation.
