Italian SRI Week 2016

It’s time for the Italian SRI community to speak up: the main initiative in Italy on sustainable finance – the SRI Week – promoted by the Italian Sustainable Investment Forum (Forum per la Finanza Sostenibile or FFS), will be held this year from November 15th to 24th.

The programme of the fifth edition includes ten events – all with free admission – taking place in Milan and Rome and involving high-profile partners and speakers.

Among the main topics discussed: climate change, impact investing, the importance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues for the Italian Foundations, financial education, enagagement on children’s rights.

Main events in agenda:

> Opening Event in Rome with the presentation of the 2016 European SRI Study
The initiative opens in Rome on November 15th with an institutional event to be held in Montecitorio under the High Patronage of the European Parliament. The event features the presentation of the 2016 edition of the European SRI Study coordinated by Eurosif, the network of Sustainable Investment Forums. The representatives of the European Parliament, of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and of the Parliamentary Intergroup for Sustainable Finance are going to participate in the event.

> In Milan, two conferences featuring the presentation of Guidelines on Sustainable Finance and Climate Change and on the integration of sustainability criteria by Italian Foundations
An event addressed to Foundations, sponsored by Degroof Petercam and Etica SGR with the patronage of Fondazione Cariplo,, is scheduled for November 17th at the Conference Hall of Intesa Sanpaolo. The event features the presentation of the first Guideline in Italy on the integration of ESG aspects into both the Institutional activity and Asset Management of Foundations. The text was written thanks to the contribution of a Working Group that involved FFS members as well as the main Italian Foundations affiliated to ACRI and Assifero.

Again in Milan, it is planned for November 22nd an event on Finance and Climate Change, hosted by Fondazione Riccardo Catella. The conference is focused on climate-related risks and opportunities for the financial sector, starting from a manual written by a Working Group promoted by FFS in collaboration with ABI and ANIA – the Italian Banks and Insurance Companies associations – with the support of Allianz Global Investors, Amundi, Etica SGR and Natixis Global Asset Management.

> Child Labour: the results of the first engagement action in Italy
On November 21st is scheduled an event in Rome, featuring the presentation of the results of the engagement initiative on child labor, launched by a network of 32 Italian investors (pension funds, professional pension schemes, asset managers and banking Foundations). The event is promoted by FFS with VigeoEiris and Fondo Cometa.

> Focus on pension plans and sustainability for the final event, with the presentation of the second Benchmark
The 2016 SRI Week ends in Rome on November 24th, with an event addressed at Italian Instituional Investors, to be held at the national headquarter of CGIL, one of the main Italian trade unions. The conference features the presentation of the second edition of the study on sustainable investments of the leading pension plans in Italy conducted by FFS and MEFOP in collaboration with the MondoInstitutional – with the support of Axa Investment Managers and Natixis Global Asset Management.

Again this year a full programme of cultural events (concerts, theatrical performances and educational workshops in schools) is associated to the SRI Week, in order to involve a wider audience into the issues of sustainable finance.
