Richard Gardiner
Richard Gardiner is Director of Engagement at Eurosif, where he contributes to the organisation’s engagement and strategic development, including strengthening its partnerships and diversifying its sources of support. Drawing on his extensive experience in EU sustainable finance and financial services policy, he also contributes to Eurosif’s policy work, communications and engagement, working with financial market participants, EU policymakers, funders and other stakeholders.
Prior to joining Eurosif, Richard worked at ShareAction, where he led the organisation’s Brussels office and its engagement on EU sustainable finance and corporate sustainability policy. He also coordinated fundraising efforts across the organisation.
Richard has worked on EU financial and corporate policy since 2010, beginning his career during the EU’s legislative response to the global financial crisis. He previously worked at the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE), representing European stock exchanges and other market operators on financial markets regulation, including the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) and Market Abuse Directive.
He subsequently moved into civil society, where his work has focused on sustainable finance, responsible investment and corporate accountability. Richard held senior policy and leadership roles at Global Witness and the World Benchmarking Alliance, working on EU sustainable finance and corporate sustainability legislation and engaging with policymakers, investors, companies and civil society organisations.
Richard holds a Master’s degree in Communications from Dublin College University.
